How Companies Take Advantage of “Cool” to Sell Their Waste
High sugar drinks laden with caffeine are sold to our children as a “fashion drink” but the combination of loads of sugar and caffeine is not a healthy drink by any means.
Youngsters have high levels of blood glucose and insulin levels which are spiked by consuming these types of drinks. High blood sugar levels are linked to diabetes in later life. It’s a bit like smoking, it happens to us when we are a lot older.
Although these drinks are aimed at our children, some adults believe they should carry a health warning like the kind we see on a packet of cigarettes. Would that stop children from buying these drinks? Probably not.
Caffeine tends to stay in your system for approximately 4 to 6 hours after consuming. With high levels of caffeine running around your body, you will have less of a chance to deal with the sugar so placing a higher load on the bodies ability to perform at a suitable level to operate machines and drive a car. Remember that caffeine rush after a few cans?
