Over the years, individuals of the LGBT community have not been capable of bearing children except through prior heterosexual relationships. However, lesbians have greatly utilized donor sperm insemination to bear children and gay men have opted for adoption or created some co-parenting arrangement with a single woman or lesbian couple.
The LGBT community has continued to face discrimination and stigma although the social acceptance across the globe is improving. The stigma results in negative experiences that together with the lack of access to informed and culturally aware health professionals lead to several health problems among the LGBT community.
