I love watching series but I’m really picky with what I watch. I really like to laugh and I’m not often in the mood for action. Obviously I love the basics: Game of Thrones, the Walking Dead (still haven’t watch season 7), American Horror Story,…
My favourites series are the Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, Grace and Frankie, American Dad, the Simpson and Please Like Me.
The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon are obviously related and Young Sheldon is less liked than TBBT but it actually is quite funny and has many references to the main show. Plus the narrator’s voice is adult Sheldon from TBBT. I love TBBT because I can relate to Penny but at the same time I used to study science and I was a nerdy teen so I can sometimes relate to the guys. Anyway in general it’s always funny and the storyline is good in my opinion. I started watching it on TV so in French but once I watched it in English online I never went back to French. Now every time it’s on TV and I hear it I just cringe because their voices are way too different. Also I love the celebrities cameos. I love Young Sheldon also because it’s great to see how Sheldon grew up, we already saw most of his family in TBBT minus his brother (I don’t know if we’ll ever see him) and his father (dead). We also can get to know his grandma and sister who appear only once or twice in TBBT;
Grace and Frankie is about two couples who know each other and will get to be together forever for a special reason: the two husbands are actually gay, love each other and are planning on getting married. I love it because it’s really funny and the characters are so different their interactions are always funny even if they didn’t like each other. They are filming season 5 right now and I’m super excited because RuPaul will be included in it as he’s friend with Jane Fonda who is one of the main actress of this show. The story start with the change of their lives because of the male characters but the show is mostly about how the female characters live their life after that event.
Please Like Me is an Australian show about homosexuality, mental health, friendship,… The main character isn’t lucky with his love life after his coming out, his mother attempted suicide and live with her bad mental health and his father feels guilty for leaving her while he is with his new girlfriend. For anybody who suffer from any mental illness and/or is part of the LGBTQ+ community this show will be quite relatable. It can be so relatable some times it can be hard to watch it without cringing, especially with the scenes in the mental hospital, the suicides and the big heartbreaks.
