I met my first girlfriend when I was in middle school, I met her online but I don’t remember where, probably MySpace or something similar. She had a girlfriend before me, who had the same name as me, but she broke up with her to be with me. We actually never had the opportunity to see each other in real life as we lived really far from each other and we were busy with school. We stayed together for a year and a half and then we slowly started to disconnect and we ended up breaking up.
I had another girlfriend a year after, I was still in middle school. I met her on Facebook, along with a friend. Actually I was closer to our mutual friend than her and even started falling in love but one night they both messaged me because they had something to tell me. We ended up creating a group chat and then she confessed, I was feeling weird because I liked her but I liked the other girl more, but I accepted anyway and we stayed together until I met my high school best friend. Plus at the end our mutual friend confessed to me and it put me in a really weird position so I just stopped everything with both of them.
I met my third girlfriend, and the only one I was within real life, during my first year of high school. We started talking because we were in the same class and we both liked Japan. We quickly became best friends and then girlfriends. When I entered high school, half of the people of my middle school were with me, and a lot of them ended up in my class. They all knew I was a woc, as they were poc too, and when they saw that I had a girlfriend some people started talking behind my back. But I was lucky enough that a lot of them in my class were also my friends so they defended m, even though they were Muslims. That’s when I understood that you can be religious and tolerant. Public display of affection isn’t really my thing, especially in school so only people close to us knew about it. Kissing a girl is actually not different than kissing a guy, it’s probably because gender doesn’t matter to me so for me a kiss is a kiss, but it was my first kiss.
We stayed together only 2 months, because being with someone 24/7 was simply too much for me and after 2 months I got super frustrated and ended everything. We both got boyfriends almost immediately after. But I loved mine, while she had a boyfriend to make me jealous, even though it didn’t work at all.
And now I’m single, because I finally understood that I need to find someone like me, who likes the same things, and that I shouldn’t like people only because they’re cute. Only gender doesn’t matter to me.
