If you read our blogs on a regular basis, you will notice a theme running through them about how many chemicals we tend to put on and in our bodies. A major well-known company, Johnson & Johnson have been taken to court over one of their best well-known brands of baby products. The person in question was from the USA and aged just 62. She unfortunately died last October from Ovarian Cancer. The link was proved in court that after years of use of one of Johnson & Johnson’s products namely the talcum powder, that Mrs Fox had died from cancer because of using the talc.
What’s in the talcum powder?
Did you know that the talcum powder you may be using today after your shower contains Magnesium, Silicon and Oxygen. When the average person goes into the local supermarket to buy oils and beauty products, did you ever stop to think about how these products are made? Probably not. Well if you did follow the road to these big manufacturers you would be amazed, because the image you have of a nice sweet smelling product being made by some Artisan in a cottage in the Lake District is way off the mark.
These are massive companies who produce chemicals on a huge scale for many of the brands you buy each week at the local store. Once they add in the sweet scented smell and lovely package it comes in, it’s so far from where it began you would never know it’s even a chemical. When you buy a paint or varnish you will find the warning information clear as day so you know what to avoid and how to handle the product in a safe way. Now take a look on the products you use each day while you get ready for work. Not much information about how they can harm you.
Most woman wash there hair in a chemical, shower in a chemical and then make themselves look good by applying even more chemicals on there faces by using make up, eye liner and lips sticks. If you knew just how many times your body came into contact with a chemical, you would be shocked. Some people have an instant reaction to a chemical, this can be a rash or a sudden swelling or even sickness. In the UK more than 6000 women a year are diagnosed with what some people call the “Silent killer” Ovarian Cancer. Many people only get the symptoms after it’s too late. Mrs Fox’s family was awarded a pay-out of £51m but didn’t see a penny because she died before the trail had finished.
