What’s the point of buying all that lovely Organic fruit and veggies, when you then toss the lot into some old pan that is full of chemicals and toxins. Not a question you have probably ever thought of.
As a family, we throw out all our old pans and bought glass pans and pots. The company we choose, is called Vision cookware. They have a look of the 60’s about them, but what they don’t have is all those chemicals to cover my food in.
No chemicals, no synthetics. Our supplements are made from plants
The slight down side is if you turn your head for a few moments, you could catch the bottom of the pan quite easily. As that seems to be about the only down side, I can live with that.
Aluminum cookware. This is a highly toxic metal, linked to Alzheimer’s and dementia among other conditions. Aluminum conducts heat quickly, which is why it’s often used in cookware.
The problem is aluminum also leaches very easily, especially when heated or exposed to acidic foods like (tomato soup, anyone?). Avoid cheap cookware made of aluminum, you know the type they sell in those pound shops. Basically, you don’t want your food touching aluminum, especially if it’s heated.
Teflon/Non-stick
This is one of the most common types of cookware, but Teflon and other non-stick surfaces can release toxic fumes into the air when overheated ( Didn’t know that did you?) and how often have you accidentally left a pan too long on the stove? And another problem is this cookware scratches easily if you’re not careful, so flecks of non-stick material can mix in unnoticed with your food. Plus your food is exposed to the metal underneath–most likely aluminum. So, non-stick cookware is a definite no-no.
The more you expose your body to chemicals, the greater chance you have of contacting a disease like cancer. People have always said that if you live in the country the air is cleaner.
How right they are. With cars pumping out loads of gases and each day we walk around the city we are bombarded by all sorts of chemicals.
It’s important to keep the contact of chemicals to a minimum. That can be hard, because most times you won’t even know your using a chemical.
The soap you use to wash with, cleaners you use for your cooker hobs, washing liquids are just the obvious ones you would come into contact on a regular basis. We look at these products as just a liquid in a bottle.
We never stop to think that this very white liquid or this strawberry smelling soap could in fact be the very chemical that’s making my child sick.
Childhood diseases are on the increase. Skin problems, asthma, Eczema, rashes, coughs all could be the result of a reaction with a chemical you use on a daily basis.
Hidden Dangers In Cookware
We are conscious of our air and water pollution. We also take extra steps to ensure our household chemicals are safe. Now we have to be careful of the hidden dangers in traditional cookware.
Stainless Steel
These are made from different alloys including scrap metal. Chrome and nickel can seap into whatever it is you’re cooking in the pan and cause a reaction. This reaction could be any number of things, many of which can be harmful.
Cast Iron
Cooking grease turns rancid in pores and because the body cannot take in the iron produced from a cast iron pan, these metals can be seriously hazardous to your health.
Glass / Enamel Coated
These cookwares are harmful enough to lead to problems in reproduction and learning disabilities. The cookware contains lead, sticks and burns our food and doesn’t distribute heat as well as the other cookwares.
