Since the American Supreme Court ruled on 26th of June that all 50 states cannot ban same-sex marriage, the support for Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender (LGBT) rights has reached astronomical levels.
It’s not going to stop there. The LGBT community face little to no opposition on organising a 10 day pride festival in Bristol whereas not so long ago this activity would have been met with strong criticism.
Also an NBC and Wall Street Journal poll showed that “57% say they favor gay marriage, with 45% of those saying they “strongly” favor a decision to legalize gay marriage”. Bristols Pride Week
The Bristol 02 Academy will host the special fundraising afterparty which helps keep the day free. Yes that’s right this 10 day event is free! At this Pride Night in the 02, which has been a sell-out for the past 3 years, there will be three rooms of music and performance throughout the club. The night features headline DJ’s, live acts, roaming club performance and dance floor dancing.
This culminates into a unique blend of performances and a variety of musical tastes and artistic expressions which is representing the very meaning of LGBT Pride.
The Pride Comedy Night is another successful sell out and for very good reasons too. Comedian Jayde Adams is the 2014 winner of The Funny Women Awards 2014 and won the Audience Award 2014 so already we know its going to be a good night out.
Joe Sutherland is a fresh face on the comedy circuit. Despite being new to the scene, he has already made fantastic impressions with the audience and has been known to have an instant stage presence.
Zoe Lyons has been in the comedy game since 2004 and was ranked 81 out of 100 on the ‘Pink List’ in 2009, a list which was the Independent on Sunday’s 100 most influential gay and lesbian people. Zoe is a regular at the Edinburgh festival and is the main attraction at many of the comedy clubs across the UK.
