When we created the Multi Vitamin & Mineral LGBT supplement, the aim was to make it a unique product that’s a one of its kind in the supplements market. We were always going to use it to help support the LGBT movement as one of our biggest business objectives is to help support charities and movements.
More Than Just Raising Awareness
The aim behind our support is to help raise awareness on the less common issues that not many company’s are focusing on. That’s not to say these issues are more important or those issues other company’s are less important, we just want to do our bit to help support those that don’t receive as much support.
A poll on enforbusiness.com showed that employees felt their company could be doing more for charity. Another survey showed that most of the 1,100 consumers who participated believe that businesses should be doing more to support charities.
In 2013, The Guardian released an article talking about how UK companies aren’t doing a lot to support charities. It showed that in 2012, 20% of the top companies gave 90% of the money, however, this support has decreased.
As we can see a lot more needs to be done and this is where smaller company’s such as us can step up to the plate and be a role model for others who can continue the support.
Charities’ Fear of Asking
On the other hand, charities won’t give company’s the opportunity to provide support as the charities hesitate asking companies to cover costs. So another benefit of getting more and more company’s to help a local charity or two is to encourage volunteers to approach people such as us and just simply ask.
Supporting the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Movement
While there has always been a movement for equality throughout the ages, advocacy groups supporting same-sex relationships didn’t begin forming until after World War II. The movement has always been suppressed until the final blow came when AIDS popped up in the 80s, an epidemic which decimated the gay male community.
Today, more and more people are accepting same-sex relationships, especially in a diverse and multi-cultural Britain, and we don’t want to revert back to the old days and old attitudes.
Our role in the community is to strengthen the movement and support equality.
